Holding Out for a Hero

I'm back in Vermont and still lovin' that man o' mine, Joey Cheek. What a truly gifted and good man -- and I'm not the only one who thinks so. Joey has been chosen to carry the American flag in tomorrow's Closing Ceremonies. Rock on, Joey. I'm so glad that the US is rewarding someone deserving for a change.

Here's some eye candy of this Olympic superhero (courtesy of Google image search):

Hazing is Hot

Red Sox, White Undies
Manny is missing? Who cares! Red Sox rookies are running around in their undies! (Insert "Red Sox, White Underwear" joke here.)

The Flash

It's official: Joey Cheek is my favorite hero and hottie of these Winter Games. (20sum to Bode: Go home!) While there's a TON of photos of my favorite speedster over at NBCOlympics.com, I found these three pre-Olympic goodies via a Google search. That second one? You know he was posing for me.

Real Life Scarlet Speedster

Joey Cheek is a winnerMy vote for Hottest Olympian is leaning towards Joey Cheek, whom the US watched win the Gold in men's 500 meters speedskating during last night's telecast.

His victory in the men's 500 meters — a furious sprint — gave the United States its second speedskating gold medal of the Turin Games, adding to the one Chad Hedrick won in the 5,000 meters Saturday.

It was also the second straight 500 victory by an American in as many Olympics. Casey FitzRandolph won at Salt Lake City, but this time nearly fell in his first race and finished 12th.

"He blew everybody away," FitzRandolph said.

Dude sure blows me away...

I think it's the hair. Or a combo of the hair and the complexion. The maturity. Plus he looks good in that little outfit when he speeds around the ice. He's kind of like The Flash (circa Wally West, anyway).

And that Gold metal helps.

Joey, you're just plain hot. Be my Valentine?

Speaking of hot olympians, there's a website devoted to the cause. Be sure to HotOlympians.com for the round-up on the studs of these Winter Games.

Here's a (Bode-heavy) sampling, via QueerClick:

Fire on Ice

A heartfelt post on how much I love the Winter Olympic Games was lost (lucky you), so you'll have to settle for this: I fucking love the Winter Olympics. The end.

These '06 games are off to a great start. Here's my two cents on the first few days of my favorite international spectacle:

Gay Gay Gay

  • Friday night's televised opening ceremonies -- a spectacle (there's that word again) so gay and silly, and yet so awe-inspiring -- knocked my socks off. There was literally so much fire that you have to call the event flaming. I spent the first few hours with a few co-workers, and we offered running commentary on the decidedly odd performances and the fashions of the parade of nations. I made it home somewhere between "K" and "U" and watched the rest of the parade and ceremonies with my housemate. At times, very cheesy, but so fun. Yoko Ono? Bad. Susan Sarandon? Out of place. Peter Gabriel? Scary-looking, but still has that amazing voice. But the real questions I am left with: Who designed the Power Ranger outfit for the dude who started the ceremonies? What was up with the disco soundtrack during the parade of nations? (In case you missed them, you can view a very US-centric photo gallery on the Detroit Free Press' website.)

Bode Bode Bode You Look Better Naked

  • Yeah, yeah. Drunk skier Bode Miller is hot. We all know this. I give him five more minutes until he's grotesquely adored to Jake Gyllenhall proportions, and I deem him overrated and undesirable. (I'm already starting to favor Skier/Footballer/Model/Playboy Jeremy Bloom -- even if he's dating The Real World San Diego's Cameran.)

  • Kwan is gone. The overrated -- but extremely cute -- twenty-five-year-old American skater withdrew from the Olympics just this morning due to injury. Oh, Michelle. Why do we waste so much press on you?

  • Boston's finest, Marco Sturm, Bruins forward, also withdrew from the games due to injury.

  • Gold!Though I rarely pay attention to who wins, the US has it's first Gold in '06 -- Chad Hedrick will take home the metal in 5,000-meter long-track speedskating. For those who don't know, the 28-year-old Texan had never competed on ice until three years ago. Known in the world of (non-Olympic) inline skating (read: rollerblading), Hedrick was inspired to switch gears after seeing a friend in the '02 games (or at least that's what Bob Costas told me). Yay for Chad. He has a very sexy southern drawl and is pretty cute to boot, therefore he deserves to be a hero.

  • My favorite Olympic event, curling (don't you laugh), hits the ice Monday. Sweet!

So there you have your 20sum Olympic Wrap-Up. What did you think of the opening ceremonies? What is your favorite event? Who is your favorite hot Olympian?

Tin Man

OK - So X-Men 3: The Last Stand is starting to look ridiculous. The trailer was decent, but some of these new stills are just cringe-worthy. Colossus (played by 6'8" hottie Daniel Cudmore)? Way hot out of costume, but all metaled-up? Pure cheese. [Via Dark Horizons.]

In Bed With Berkus

berkus.jpg
Who is Nate Berkus? I really don't know. I guess I vaugely remember mentions of him at Zionide or Towleroad -- some gay designer dude on Oprah. Well, hell, why didn't anybody say he was hot? I guess I should've figured.

Anyway, I went to Linens & Things the other day, shopping around for a new comforter, and there I was confronted with THE NATE BERKUS COLLECTION. So the dude is hot -- kinda looks like the dad from Gilmore Girls, who was in that gay movie with that guy from Melrose Place -- and his picture is all over the place. And then it turns out his stuff isn't so bad.

In fact, one thing in particular was so not bad that I obsessed about it for a few days. A "coverlet" -- whatever that means -- in "Rust" (looks orange to me). Said "Rust coverlet" had been in my thoughts since Saturday, so today I took a trip back to LnT and picked up this "Queen Coverlet":

Oh, whatever. So I'm just a clueless faggot who likes to buy pretty things from pretty boys at big box stores. Don't judge.

Yelli, my bed is orange now. When are you coming back to Vermont so you can sleep in it?

Nate Berkus, and other hot men, I pose the same question to you, too.

And I Saw Pictures in My Head

Here are some of my favorite shots from Matt Nathanson's show at UVM last Friday. The show was really great -- Matt's wit was razor-sharp as always, and his voice/guitar/lyrics were right on, too. He is one hot mama! (Haven't heard of Matt? Find him on iTunes, pronto!)

More photos after the cut.

Super Beef

Supes3.jpg
I'm sure that these new pics are all over the net by now, but I'm just catching a glimpse.

Supes2.jpgMy excitement may not be the only thing growing for Superman Returns. I mean, look at that picture up there! Brandon Routh is totally huge and hot in the above shot. Those shoulders, those calves, that ass. Daaaaaaamn. Thank God this thing is helmed by a gay director...

With every new reveal from this flick, I get more excited and more hopeful. (Although the image on the right, of Clark in costume with glasses on, is a little concerning -- Routh looks a little too pretty in the shot. I don't know, something about it urks me.) I guess we'll know how it all turns out in only five more months or so...

Ho's for a Cause

How the hell did I miss Boston's annual Santa Speedo Run?! I've been a fan since last year, and I'm actually pretty bummed, because it looks like it was just a block from my hotel.

This run is an annual fundraiser for the Ellie Fund, a Massachusetts breast cancer charity. Since 1999, Boston dudes -- both hot and not -- have been stripping down for the greater good.

Hot men with hot packages in cold weather aside, the run reminds me of the spirit of Boston that I love so much -- a city where its people will find a way to make money for a cause by doing things like pub crawls, motorcycle rides, and near-naked streaking in winter. That's a city that I love.

[Via, predictably, towleroad -- many more hot photos can be found over there, too. And visit the run's official site for other pics and, even, videos!]

Another Look at Bearded DS

OK - so maybe I like this a little better than that other pic. [Via MySpace.]

Everyone is boring and everyone is bored

Duncan Sheik has a beard!

(He also has a new album, White Limousine, coming out in January.)

Now I love me some bearded men, but DS is not one of them. He just looks too -- terrorist-y with it.

And -- shock, horror -- I'm also not totally sold on the first new single, either. I want another Daylight, not another Phantom Moon.

What are your thoughts on the new DS, Nick?

Paging Dr. O'Malley

My apologies to the 20sum reader who thought I had forsaken Grey's Anatomy -- how could I forget to post about my dear, sweet George O'Malley? The man is adorable as ever, even if he's exiled to the sidelines in the second season opener. I'm still in love.

The episode was overall solid, especially after somewhat lackluster bows by both Lost and Housewives. The little-medical-show-that-could delivers where the blockbusters couldn't. Even if the Meredith/Dr. McDreamy/Mrs. McDreamy storyline was a little eh, Sandra Oh rocked my ass out of the park and George was, well, my George.

So, no, the show is far from over for me. Still loves it!

(And don't forget -- the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack dropped today. Featuring great tracks by Tegan & Sara, Mike Doughty, Ben Lee, and Medeski Martin & Wood -- the album looks like it kind of, sort of rocks.)

Who's Your Daddy?

Daddy, I need a spanking. Here are some things that are keeping me occupied this semi-sunny Sunday afternoon:

  • Bat-Daddy Linus Roache (Batman Begins' Thomas Wayne) is hot in my book! Happy Father's Day, Mr. Wayne. Err. Rest in peace.

  • Alan Cumming will not return as Nightcrawler for X-Men 3. He hates Bryan Singer, too!

  • Film news for several of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk's novels is up at AICN.

  • 20sum has finally updated it's wardrobe for summer. Good-bye, shuffle green -- hello .mac blue. What do you think?

  • Get on a p2p and download MTV2's sublimely messed up faux kids show Wonder Shozen pronto! So much fucked up humor, so little time... This is the stuff of laugh riots and nightmares. You can download an early, 14-minute pilot for the show (then called *ahem* "Kids Show") here. Not for the faint of heart!

    Finders Keepers

Oliver is correct -- Jason Fromer is the hottest man on VH1's "Kept."

He looks a lot older than 25, though -- not a bad thing!

Waiting For My Rocket to Come

Praise be to TRENT for hooking me up with this glorious eye-candy: my beloved Mr. A-Z, Jason Mraz, nearly nude!

Love the specs! Some say I have odd taste in men. I say I just want a taste of Mraz!

(Oddly, nekkid Jason looks somewhat like nekkid Duncan -- sorry Duncs, but it's true!)

    Guilty

    I need to admit something.

I really, really enjoy What I Like About You.

It's a sitcom... on The WB.

Delete me from your Favorites now.

What I Like About You is a show starring 90210's Jennie Garth and, um, Nickelodeon's Amanda Bynes. I really have no idea what the premise is, but I catch the show on Sundays during EasyView, and I just love it. It's charming and kind-of-funny. But best of all, it features Popular's Mary Cherry (Leslie Grossman) -- and several hot young actors, particuarly one Nick Zano -- potentially one of the hottest men on television.

    Nick Zano is hot.

I don't have much else to say - but I guess this is an excuse to post pictures of Mr. Zano.

Watch The WB's What I Like About You. And spend some quality time with Nick's pictures.

    You'll thank me later.

    The Ultimate Hot Geek

I think my Clark Kent fixation is starting to resurface...

I'm sure most of you have seen the first pics of Brandon Routh as CK from Superman Returns that surfaced last week, but I was on blog-vacation so I didn't get to post them then.

So here they are now. I think he looks kinda hot, personally -- retro-hair and all. And, by god, he looks so much like Chris Reeves. He really looks like Clark Kent should!

And here is Lois Lane with an iPod:

Can't wait to see Kevin Space as Lex Luthor -- or Routh in the tights!

    My Man George

If he were not a character on a TV show, I would totally date George from Grey's Anatomy.

(By the way, does anybody have last Sunday's ep on tape or Tivo? I'm dying to know if he was wearing a Vermont shirt in the opening scene or not...)

    You're Welcome

Yum!I'm excited by the big Alias news that came out today, so to celebrate -- here's a couple shirtless screencaps of my other favorite (and dearly missed) character -- sexy reporter Will Tipin (one of my Top Five celebrity crushes, Mr. Bradley Cooper). Come back, Will -- and kill Vaughn while you're at it!

Tip of the day for my fellow Bradley lovers: check out the cult film Wet Hot American Summer (a Crash-and-Duncan fave) for a totally hot (and somewhat romantic) scene of Brad getting fucked from behind by noneother than Michael Ian Black (that bitch!)

    Here's two of my faves:

Jake & Drake -- Not For Kiddies

Via Fleshbot (watch out - it's dirty):

We were never huge fans of MTV’s Road Rules, but we’re starting to wish we had turned into the fourth season at least to see whether or not Jake Bronstein got into the same sort of situations (or showed as much skin) as he shares on his funny, entertaining, and more than occasionally sexy website—including wacky poolside enema action, naked ice diving, and adventures in personal lubrication. If all personal websites were this much fun, maybe we wouldn’t be spending so much time surfing porn.
Some links @ JakeBronstein.com (BEWARE -- naked reality "stars" within!):
“The Truth About Cats and Dogs”, “What An Ice-Hole”, “Golden Penis”

And speaking of hot (straight) men, I'm continually admiring the great finds over at QueerClick -- today, particularly the blonde hottie named Drake (left), a ripped blonde surfer-type turned amateur-pornstar. The link brings you to more naughty content.

    Fall Into The...

    Daaaaaaaaaamn.

Browsing on QueerClick tonight (hot blog - Yelli beware, there are penises on it), I found a long-lost love: the guy from last year's GAP khaki ads that I fell in love with. Remember this beautiful, beautiful man?

I would get damn excited every time that ad would come on. I'd perk up whenever I'd hear it come on, just like a dog. And it made such an impression, I bought one of those ugly pinkish-salmon polos featured in the spot (I would've bought it anyway, I'm sure, but seeing such a hottie model it certainly helped the sale.)

Turns out the model's name is Raoul Bova, and he was also in Aliens vs. Predator, a movie I will never see.

Booooring. But QC has more pics of this a-maze-ing man in a smokin' gallery. Hot stuff -- but I think I prefer him in khakis.

(And this is how I am spending my Thursday night...)

This image is the only thing that got me out of bed this morning. (I did tequila shots at 135 last night - and I'm paying for it today.)
