Doctor, Doctor...
I'm just going to say it: Grey's Anatomy is my favorite TV show currently on the air.
Sure, I love the Runway and the Klumby. And Law & Order: SVU is hot, even beyond Chris Meloni. And Lost is good for a poorly-written but addictive mindfuck. But Grey's? It just delivers. I've spend over 10 hours with those crazy kids this week, as I've been obsessively watching the Season 2 DVDs, and I'm digging the eps even more the second time around.
And I still love me some George. And Christina and Izzie. And, increasingly, Addison and Alex. And I think I have a crush on Dr. Burke.
Some dude named Tracie Potochnik on MSN (my current homepage at work, since I'm too lazy to change it) gives us some "Lessons from the love doctors," including our favorite horny interns at Seattle Grace:
True that.The Show: Grey's Anatomy
The lesson: Resolve your ex issues before moving on
Poor Dr. Meredith Grey. On her first day as a surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital, she discovers that her previous night's one-night stand is actually attending doctor Derek Shepherd, a.k.a. her boss. Despite the neon "bad idea" signs flashing all around, Meredith falls in love with Derek only to discover that he has an estranged wife, Addison, whom he never saw fit to mention. Turns out Derek had left Addison after she cheated on him with his best friend. Meredith is crushed when Derek takes his philandering ex back, but after enduring a long stint of heartache the two decide that they can be "friends," which is medical speak for "people who are secretly still madly in love with each other." When he finds out that she's dating a hunky veterinarian, Derek demonstrates his crack friendship skills by calling Meredith a very vulgar term. To the delight of self-respect enthusiasts everywhere, she finally tells him off and, it seems, moves on, but the seductive power of formalwear leads the two back in the sack (or, more accurately, some random hospital room) on the night of the Hospital Prom. Tune in this season to see if either of their dates takes kindly to this.
Dating diagnosis: Romantic entanglements can be tricky, so make sure that you've put any issues with your ex to bed before you drag an innocent bystander (or even an increasingly sympathetic cheatin' wife) into your unresolved drama.
Grey's begins its third season tonight at 9PM. I am unbelivably (and pathetically) pumped.
