TEA Time

At the very least, check out that banner design. And while you're at it, click through to the website. Like it? That's yours truly. Nothing fancy. A rift on the 20sum template, perhaps. But that's my first freelance gig in New York, and I'm happy with it.

But beyond design -- if you're in the New York area, please consider checking out Do Not Disturb Theatre's production of TEA, a new play by Greg Turner (my roommate and one of my best friends) this week (July 6, 7, and 8) at the Manhattan Theatre Source. The play is first rate (honestly), an excellent piece from a great new talent -- and, hey, there's free wine and cheese with every ticket. And tickets are only $15.

What is TEA? It's a play about celebrity, race, and gender, for starters. It's got a lot to say, and its fucking hilarious. And fabulous. Gays will love it. (Yes, that means you.) So check it out.

What? You want to know more? Alright. Here's the official synopsis:

Tea is a play that takes place over four decades as three wealthy, famous women and one revolutionary man meet up for cat fights, gossip, and everything else that comes with Earl Grey.

For centuries tea has been the drink of choice for elite white women. From the Queens of yesterday to the Movie Star, Princess, and President's Widow we meet in 1968 Hollywood, tea has always been more than just a beverage. Tea is an opportunity to catch up with and gang up on our nearest and dearest frienemies.

Though the characters of the play would have you believe it's only about tea, you'll soon learn that tea is rarely, if ever, that simple.

TEA stars Jamyl Dobson, Barnet Senegal , James Shippy, and Laura von Holt, and is directed by Sara Sahin.

You still need more info? *sigh* Check out DoNotDisturbTheater.com for more details, including headshots of the attractive young leads.

I'll be there this Thursday. Will you?
