In My Eyes

« Last Post | Next Post »

I wear glasses. Have since 4th Grade. And at nine, it was awesome! All the cool kids were getting glasses. And braces. I was in with the in crowd.

At twenty-five, with the safety goggles you can see above hanging off my face, it's not so much.

(The frames, however big, are Versace -- for what it's worth.)

Tomorrow I'm going to bite the bullet and get contacts. I've been toying with the idea for a while now and actually practicing touching my baby-blues -- the only reason I haven't had contacts yet -- all week. Despite some mild seasonal allergies, I'm going to give it a shot.

Wish me -- and my eyeballs -- luck.

I just got glasses at the start of the year so I have yet to realize that they really aren’t cool yet (plus how would people know I was really smart if I wasn't wearing glasses?)

Hey Patrick, good luck. You'll get used to touching your eyeballs. It really ain't that bad. I got my first pair of contacts when I was 13 and wore them for about 10 years until I finally got tired of touching my eyeballs and am now totally back to glasses (Gucci, thank you very much). But you will get used to touching your eyeballs and you will rock the contacts.

Honey, you're gonna be a star! But seriously - how long have I been telling you to do this? The first week, maybe even the second will be terrible. You may find yourself crying on the bathroom floor b/c they were so easy to get in at the doctor's office but at home, not so much. Once you get the hang of it you'll be a god among men my love!

Almost forgot, my glasses are DKNY...

As someone who just recently got contacts after being a lifelong glasses user, my advice is this:

*Hang in there. Your eyes are going to HATE them. But you have to tough it out.

*If your eyes get tired, let them rest. Lots of rest is good.

*Be aware of old habits, like pushing up your glasses at the bridge of your nose. For weeks after I got contacts, I was constantly pushing up glasses that weren't there and I looked stupid.

Good luck!

I've had glasses since 5th grade, and braces since 4th, and back then, they were not at all cool. And I don't wear contacts for the same reason you dont, can't get anything near my eyes.

But for you,I'm glad you're getting contacts, you have beautiful eyes, and they shouldn't be obscured by glasses, no matter who made the frames.

Good luck!

Sorry Patrick. Contact lenses don't make you prettier. You still have to do something about the rest of your face (all love!)

Damn, I thought the gay nerd/intellectual look was a definite turn on, P. Perhaps you could keep the glasses around for "special" occasions.
