Straight Bloggers are Boring

« Last Post | Next Post »

FYI -- The Ultimate Blogger is winding down. I just have to say that I made the right choice by withdrawing all those weeks ago... Best of luck to the Final Two!

Hey Crash, I'm interested care to elaborate more? You don't think it's turned out interesting? Just asking.

To clarify: I like the idea of Ultimate Blogger. The site looks great, the organization and challeges are superb, and the videos are highly entertaining. I think that the Urban Honking folks are doing a great job.But the Den? I have found it quite boring since Day One, which is part of the reason I quit. I couldn't bring myself to read many of the entries in full. Why? I don't know. I couldn't get into it. The posts (mine included) were just too wordy and dull.I couldn't get into the "drama" either. The alliances are silly and it seemed clear from the very beginning, with Lyova getting the first imunity, who was wanted for the long haul. I was also uncomfortable with the fact that friends (and, in one case, the brother) of the organizers were contestants (even though it appears that none of them made it to the Final Two).To conclude: Videos=fun. Den=dull. Love the idea of UB. Didn't so much dig the way it turned out. Is that the nature of the beast? The nature of the attention span? I do think it turned out well enough, but it didn't grab me the way I'd hoped. And perhaps I'm just not cut out to participate or watch a blogging reality show. That being said - I do want to come back for Ultimate Blogger: All-Stars. I can be the dude who thinks he's too good for the contest. It'll rock!

Like you, I did feel the contest was stacked in other contestants favors more than others. I didn't even know that there were family relations. I guess I would've liked more writing on topics and less of the videos (which were cool, but to me didn't seem to fit the premise of what I felt an ultimate blogger was -- a compelling writer, not a good photographer or an amateur cinematographist). And in case it helps, Medya was really my twin brother and Lois was my mom. Sike!
