Becky, Look at the Size of His iTunes

« Last Post | Next Post »

1. Total amount of music files on your computer?

Yes, that's the current count: 11,330 songs. A whopping 44.25GB - over half of my poor Powerbook's HD. Who the hell needs 33.6 DAYS of music, I ask you? Who? (And who wants to buy me a 60GB iPod photo? My 15GB 3rd Gen [Thanks, Pete!] just doesn't cut it anymore.)

2. The last CD you bought was:

Jack Johnson's new one, In Between Dreams. Remember? Before that it was Ani DiFranco's latest. Both are good, but Jack's more contagious.

3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?

"Re-Offender" by Travis.

4. Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.

Five songs out of 11,000+?? Yeah right. You can check out my outdated MusicMobs page for a more in-depth look at my listening-habits. But for this thing, in no particular order, here's my (don't-judge-me) current in heavy rotation list:

  • "Paul Newman's Eyes" by Dogs Die In Hot Cars : I don't like Paul Newman much. But I do like DDIHC.
  • "Letter Read" by Rachael Yamagata : Everytime I listen to her, I wish I was Ursula, the evil sea witch from The Little Mermaid, and I could steal her voice for her own. Seriously.
  • "Against All Odds" by The Postal Service: I enjoy TPS, and I really enjoy their cover of this old Phil Collins' song. ("We're talking to Phil Collins's people. But then again, aren't we all?")
  • "Filthy/Gorgeous" by Scissor Sisters : Yes, this is a gay blog afterall (in case that Ursual reference didn't hammer that home). In this song, I like how it sounds like Moviefone guy is in the background saying "filthy" and "gorgeous."
  • "Rich Girl" by Gwen & Eve: I said DON'T JUDGE ME! I still love this song... help me.

    5. What 3 people are you going to pass this baton to and why?

Let's see -- I'll tag my three most regular readers with blogs. I guess this means you have to do it.

  • Corey @ OPIEblue : He may not have time to do it, between comic books and his new boyfriend, but I'd like to learn more about this big geek's musical tastes.
  • Richard @ Proceed : If this DOW can figure out how to blog, I'm sure he's figured out how to use iTunes.
  • Rick @ Blandella : Let's see how much we have in common. Biotch.

(Yelli, if only you had a blog...)

    ● ● ● ● ● ●

And now, from a different iTunes meme (taken from ebby), the answers to a few more questions you were dying to ask about my music collection:

First Song in Collection (alphabetical): ".38.45 (A Thievery Number)" by Thievery Corporation
Last Song in Collection (alphabetical): "Zoo Station" by U2

Shortest Track: "Back" by Janet Jackson (00:04)
Longest Track: "Dry: A Memoir (Unabridged)" by Augusten Burroughs (8:42:55)
Longest Track (non-audiobook): "Tweezer (live)" by Phish (30:55)
Longest Track (non-audiobook, non-Phish): "Slide Show" by Travis (18:31)

First Album in Collection (alphabetical): God Street Wine's $1.99 Romances
Last Album in Collection (alphabetical): Matchbox 20's Yourself or Someone Like You

Find "sex;" how many songs show up? 37
Find "death;" how many songs show up? 21
Find "love;" how many songs show up? 756

Just to be picky: the fourth generation iPods only came in 20 GB and 40 GB. You're probably thinking of a third generation iPod!

I probably am not the best to answer, but.....

    1. Total amount of music files on your computer? 33
(I just got an iPOD mini - so, there'll be a few more - but, I'm not really that music saavy)

    2. The last CD you bought was:
    Hella Good Single (No Doubt)

    3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?
Five Miles High PJ Ollsen - on VH1 computer radio (btw, I love this guy - but, I think his latest album has been delayed since 2002. VH1 Neon plays him all the time - he is also known for singing "the Whistle Song."

    4. Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
a)Silly Love Songs, Paul McCartney and Wings (favorite love song)
b)It's Rainin Again, Supertramp (favorite broken heart song)
c)Perfect Day, Hoku (favorite happy, get up and go song - theme song to Legally Blond)
d)Lovely Day, Bill Withers (Favorite early morning, in love, gotta clean the house song)
e)Always, Erasure (favorite Erasure song...plus - when I was in the Navy, late at night I'd sit alone on deck, under the stars while crossing the Pacific Ocean on the way to Korea and dream about my future husband....)

    5. What 3 people are you going to pass this baton to and why?
I can't - because all of my friends hate these things and they yell at me whenever I send them....

    Love,
    Corey

Well, it looks like we have less in common today than other days. Also, I'll pretend you haven't referred to me as a bitch twice now. Come on, we both know I'd own you in real life. *wink*

    1. Total amount of music files on your computer?None at the moment. My Powerbook should be here any day now, but then it still won't have nearly as much music as yours does. Does size really matter?

    2. The last CD you bought was:Rachel Yamagata "Happenstance" and Jesse Malin "The Fine Art of Self Destruction" - both bought the same day. I was going to buy the new LCD Soundsystem CD this weekend, but couldn't find it where I live (oh the inhumanity!)

    3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?Whiskeytown "16 Days"

    4. Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you. (I opted for songs that mean a lot to me.)A. Bonnie Raitt "I Can't Make You Love Me if You Don't" - I think this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and most painful too. This song feels like it was made for the soundtrack of my life.
    B. Chris Isaac "Wicked Game" - a sexy song with an even sexier video. I wish I had been conceived to this song. It's also a karaoke favorite of mine.
    C. Ryan Adams "Anybody Wanna Take Me Home" When Ryan's wailing the title, I feel his pain. Sometimes, it's just nice to be wanted.
    D. K's Choice "Almost Happy" I drove around with this song on repeat for about an hour one night a few weeks ago. I love the drum beat on this one, and you can never go wrong with rocking Europeans.
    E. Howie Day "Collide" I like this song, but I'm a little frustrated that it's been playing every day for the last two weeks when my alarm's gone off in the morning. Coincidence? I think not. Then, I'm stuck with this song in my head all day long.

    5. What 3 people are you going to pass this baton to and why?I have to concur with Corey. My friends don't dig this sort of thing, and loudly declare that I'm an uber-nerd when I do stuff like this.
